Melaque Mixteca Families Benefit from Canadian Fundraising

Melaque Mexico benefits from Canadian tennis players fundraisingI'll admit it, there are tons of fundraising event along the Pacific Coast of Mexico and Melaque during the winter season.  Our winter friends come down to enjoy the sun and surf, inexpensive lodging and activities and friendly local people.  It's a great combination to get them in the mood for giving, volunteering at local spay and neuter clinics, cleaning up the mangroves, teaching English and giving cash at events.

We have been fortunate to host many generous people at El Palmar.  Year after year they come down and help us support the mixteca families that come to the area during the winter to work at the local ranches and farms.  Along with my wife Dr. Rosa we've worked to provide accommodations, medical care, and education for the children and food for the families.  We could not do it without the generous donations of many people.

I'd like to introduce you to Ranjan McArthur.  He and some other tennis players  from Canada have been supporting the Mixteca people here in Melaque. Their fund raising efforts for the last year formed an important part of the year's works. There was protection for the windows, help with the ecological kitchen, a new washing machine, and money to pay our account at the local building supplier. Ranjan is only part of his family's effort, his mother Lajwanti McArthur has for the past three years been knitting sweaters, hats, and blankets for the families. Have a look at the video and see how excited these kids are to receive these wonderful gifts.
